A high-performance choice of a good helmet:

New features of Alpinestars SP-1
The main difference I have noticed with the Alpinestars motorcycle gloves is with the finish. Incidentally these gloves are also marketed as Alpinestars gloves just in case you were wondering they are the same thing! So the finish, compared to the Alpinestars gloves or Alpinestars GP Tech gloves the finish is a bit cheap. You may find that there are long threads hanging or the leather has not quite been cut to the fit you would expect. I guess Alpinestars can get away with it since its been marketed as a mid range glove. If you can live with the inferior finish then there is no reason not to buy these gloves. They will provide you with an excellent level of protection and come at a fantastic price. The cheapest I have seen the Alpinestars SP1 gloves are about $100 and its a great bargain at that price.
Alpinestars gloves are also on the market. You’ll also find them listed as Alpinestars SP-2 gloves and are very similar to the SP1 model but are even cheaper.
The SP-1 range also come in Alpinestars gloves Stella SP-1 format which is directed completely at the female market. It’s touted as having a cut specifically to fit a ladies hand and so it will fit much better.

Alpinestars SP-1 Gloves
Most of the Alpinestars gloves I have looked at so far have been pretty much at the top of the range. I hope I haven’t scared anyone off with the cost of these gloves. There are so called mid ranged biking gloves out there if that’s what you’re after. I know not everyone has $300 to spend on a pair of gloves so if you’re looking for that Alpinestars quality but your budget doesn’t quite stretch that far how about going for the Alpinestars gloves? They are aimed at general road use, you won’t catch any of the big named MotoGP stars using them but then hey how many of us are going to get to that level? Not me I know that much! Don’t let the ‘mid-range’ tag full you into thinking that you’re buying an inferior product though. They are stunning looking gloves and will provide you with an exceptionally high level of protection no matter what type of vehicle you’re on.
The Alpinestars motorcycle gloves are constructed from leather and the thickness of the leather varies from point to point on the gloves. Obviously the areas which require most protection have the thickest area of leather. Kevlar is also present which acts as additional abrasion resistance for that top quality protection. The knuckles are made up of carbon fiber and carbon fiber sliders are also present and correct on the fingers. As standard on the Alpinestars gloves these days is the ventilation holes to let a little air in to your hands for those long summer rides. These are present on the fingers and the wrist area. The wrist gauntlet is also rather familiar as it is the standard dual Velcro closure. The fit of these gloves is excellent and comes in various different sizes so you should find a pair to suit your needs. It is possible to get small Alpinestars gloves as I know this is a common query especially with the Alpinestars Alloy Gloves.
Scorpion Helmets in Hollywood
Dean McDermott, co-star of the Tori & Dean show featured on the Oxygen Channel, isn't your average Hollywood TV celebrity. He's as much a Scorpion motorcycle helmets enthusiast as the rest of us. He's been riding bikes since the ripe age of 12 and recently got the urge to take to the race track. So 'Scorpion USA' hooked him up with a full-custom race suit and helmets to get the job done. He now has his WERA racing license and has been chiseling his knee-dragging skills ever since. He's getting faster and part of that process is tossing the bike along the way. He's walked away from 2 crashes. One at low speed and another at over 100mph when the front end pushed out. Take a journey through Dean's trials and tribulations in trying to balance family and his need for speed by browsing through the below video's and tune in to the new season of "Tori & Dean - Home Sweet Hollywood" on the Oxygen Channel.
Scorpion Urban Destroyer Helmet
The poly mesh shell also gets ballistic nylon panels in the high impact areas for when you are in a tight scrape, not to mention the fact that the Urban Destroyer also has your back, literally. There is a full-length back protector compartment, complete with a P.E. foam pad in place. Internally, a lightweight perforated liner makes for maximum air flow.
Additional refinements include two generous hand warmer pockets as well as an interior storage pocket. Reflective trim has been incorporated on the arms and back of the jacket for improved nighttime visibility. Dual waist-adjustment snaps and Velcro® arm adjustment tabs help keep the jacket or sleeves from flapping at triple digit speeds. The Urban Destroyer jacket comes in a basic black, bright blue or vivid red, ranging in size from S up through XXL.
Capping things off are the matching scorpion-exo-400 Urban Destroyer helmets. Featuring an advanced polycarbonate composite construction, the shell's aero-tuned design has been wind-tunnel tested to ensure things stay quiet inside when all hell is breaking loose outside. The SpeedShift® quick-change shield system makes for simple, tool-less faceshield changes in less than 10 seconds. Speaking of shields, Scorpion Helmets optically correct faceshields are treated with anti-scratch hardened coating and the exclusive EverClear® no-fog technology. Although the destroyed urban environment graphics look killer, these lids will not lay waste to your wallet as the EXO-400 retails for right around $159.95.

Scorpion EXO-1000 review -- Part7
Noise and tolerance thereof is subjective, of course, and I always wear high-quality ear plugs, but there is a wind rushing noise that seems to be generated around the top vents and the rear exhaust spoiler on the scorpion-exo-1000, along with a continuous low-frequency wind rushing noise around the bottom of the helmet, caused by turbulence and amplified when riding behind a short windscreen.
What I don't hear is the annoying whistling noise that can be caused by air passing over vent holes, and this is surprising. It isn't the loudest helmet I've tried by any means, but I'd say it's probably in the bottom third.
Remember that we always wear correctly fitted, high quality earplugs and an extra helmet liner when riding, and we strongly recommend that you always wear hearing protection also.
And also remember that your experience with noise levels will probably be different because it depends on many factors, including your head shape, the motorcycle configuration, prevailing winds and more.
Score: I'll give it a break and rate the EXO-1000 as "Acceptable" for the amount of noise that it transmits.

Alpinestars Motorcycle Gloves-SP
The Alpinestars motorcycle gloves "Storm Rider" were recommended by several webBikeWorld visitors and other local riders as a popular favorite, so we added them to the list for this comparison.
Alpinestars doesn't actually claim that the Storm Rider Gore-Tex gloves are for winter; in fact, they state that the Storm Rider "is a lightweight riding glove, ideal for touring and sport riding, even in cold weather".
I'm not sure I'd call them "lightweight", and they're not the warmest glove in this comparison, but I have to admit a growing admiration for them and I can see why they're so popular.
The warmest weather of summer may be a bit much for them; likewise the coldest depths of winter, but otherwise I think they would be an excellent choice for nearly all-year-round use, especially here in the Mid-Atlantic, where winter shouldn't be as cold as it has been recently.
Alpinestars makes a wide variety of high-quality motorcycle clothing and they have a strong reputation with motorcyclists around the world, and it looks like a lot of their experience went into the design of the Storm Rider gloves.
But you'll pay for 'em; the Storm Riders are tied with the Rev'it Tempest H2O gloves as the most expensive in this comparison.

Motorcycle Glove Tips Sent in by Visitors
We really appreciate tips from other riders. If you would like to add a tip to this list, feel free to send it to us using our contact form.If a manufacturer has taken the trouble to design a motorcycle glove with safety features it is highly unlikely that a wrist strap is not included. (give it a quick check)
Just make sure that the padding and glove liners don't hinder your feel of the controls.
An important tip is to be happy about the usability. You really have to get used to bigger, fatter fingers on the controls (just make sure they are not too fat).
If your gloves are well waterproofed you don't need rain gloves.
Use a motorcycle glove chart size so you can check which size you need.
Check out how the glove is stitched together. You will get extra cold hands if water can come in through the stitches.
Motorcycle Gloves Review Tips & Checks
Comfort
A motorcycle glove should be the right size. Since you are using your hands all the time, gloves with the wrong size will be a bother. Big gloves will start to wrap around the bar. Too small will annoy your fingers.
Construction
Most gloves are ergonomically formed. Just watch the rain glove because sometimes it's just two halves sewn together. Gloves are nearly always made up of leather or very strong nylon. Leather provides the highest safety if you hit the ground.
Furthermore a glove should have reinforcements such as extra padding on the knuckles and palms. Special features are carbon shells covering high impact areas. Or little metal studs on the palms to avoid scraping open your hands.
Lining
Some gloves allow you to take out the lining for a wash, which is an extra benefit after about 2000 miles! You can also get glove liners separate which can be an extra advantage if you want to warm up your medium weight gloves, for example.
Extensions
Often summer gloves don't have them but all others do. It's the part which goes over your sleeve to avoid wind blowing in your jacket. A disadvantage is that rain can run down your sleeve and into your glove. Still the advantage is better, just tuck away the glove extensions under your jacket during the rain.
Water resistant
Should gloves be water resistant? Yes I say. These days all the material is so high-tec that a good glove should also keep out water. You pay a bit more but it saves you buying rain mc gloves. Watch for this benefit in gloves. Manufacturers will definitely tell you about it.
Insulation
Apart from a good lining the wind will influence the temperature of your hands big time. Wind creeps in where the glove is stitched together, often at your fingertips. The same place that is so hard for your body to keep warm.
Wrist strap
Straps can be made from Velcro or a simple button clip system. They improve the comfort of a glove.
Gloves are designed for a particular hand size. A wrist strap makes sure the glove holds its ergonomically formed design. This also ensures that all extra safety padding is in the right place.

Introduction of Alpinestars Gloves
The company started out way back in 1963 in Italy and started off making hiking and ski boots. They moved swiftly on to making boots for motocross racing. In the 1990’s the company really moved on and branched out into making protective jackets and gloves which we all know and have come to love today. You can also get a full leather suit for racing which is a bit pricey but it’s well worth the money if you can afford it. Personally I’ve got a few pairs of gloves and that’s about as far as the budget can stretch at the moment. I do have my eyes on a cool pair of Alpinestars Gloves boots and a leather jacket. One amazing fact I found out today is that Alpinestars used to make brand mountain bikes but unfortunately stopped production in 1996. They make amazing motocross gear so I can only imagine how wonderful the mountain bikes would have been. I wonder if they still sell them on Ebay. Worth a look later.
Anyway Alpinestars Gloves have offices in Tokyo and Los Angeles and of course they have a strong presence in Italy. Most of the research and development still takes place in Italy. The brand is today worn by MotoGP World Champions Nicky Hayden and Casey Stoner so if you ever were in any doubt about the quality of Alpinestars gloves then that should set your mind at ease. motorcycle gloves comments
Dainese blew these. Do they expect the girls who'd wear these to be gullible enough to pay such high price for an insufferable fit, to be unbreakable superwomen that need minimal protections, or to be discouraged by such joking treatment that they just stay away from serious riding!!?
I ordered these Alpinestars gloves at a Dainese store after trying the men's equivalent thinking that the women's would fit (slimmer palm, longer fingers) and look better. I received these in the mail and were shocked by their poor-fit and lack of protection.
Then what upsets me, as this happens with the majority of brands, is that the girl's design is such a cheat and downgrade from men's (supposedly comparable) versions of metal motorcycle gloves - at the same high price! The motorcycle gloves, except the knuckle plate and shield that deceivingly shine like Valentino Rossi's, they are soft everywhere else, not a bit of meaningful protection on finger joints, sides or wrists, the palms go completely thin and flimsy!
i should stick with men's track gloves and stay mindful of the inferior woman's gear.
The fingers are extremely short - especially the middle and index fingers - almost half an inch too short; yet the palm is really baggy. I have normally shaped hands that are in no way too slim or long, these gloves seem to have been made for
Neanderthals' hand shapes. I had them on for a ride out on the streets and my two fingers' tips went sore from wanting to poke through the Alpinestars motorcycle gloves, yet my palm did not have good contact with the handle bar due to bagginess. Small tightening traps cut too short (close to the palm) on the wrists, bothersome! The cuff strap, due to lack of insert or padding, are too soft and thin to control its proper tightening around the sleeves, either too loose or too restrictive.

scorpion helmet buying guide
Let me dive in to what really jumps out at us about these five Scorpion helmets. I'll start with the universal features of each of the helmets:
one:With the exception of the scorpion EXO-400 which is a slightly round oval shape, every Scorpion helmet is an intermediate oval shape
*twoEverClear faceshield- this shield is optically correct and utilizes a fog-free technology and anti-scratch coating. It's also one of the strongest shields we've seen, made of strong polycarbonate.
*three: KwikWick liner- the cheek pads and helmet liner and made from a moisture-wicking material that pulls perspiration away from your face. These interiors breathe extremely well and are easy to remove and completely washable
four: SpeedShift system (except the modular scorpion EXO-900)- this quick-change shield system allows you to easily pop the shield on and off by turning a mechanism on each side of the helmet. No tools! It is one of the easiest shield-change systems we've seen.
To summarize:
In this video, we detail the five models of motorcycle helmets produced by Scorpion. We've seen some great products come from Scorpion in the last few years and judging by the reviews on our site, fellow riders are loving Scorpion helmets as well. Check out the HD video below.

Held Steve 2 Glove
Check out the video above. We shot it with Tommy of Held USA at the Indy dealer show.
The motorcycle gloves has kangaroo leather palm, riveted heel studs and leather reinforced upper like the original Steve, but now with an updated design which will be more comfortable and protective. The Steve 2 also features a Nomex and Kevlar reinforced outer layer for further protection from a fall. The new Steve 2 has a grey palm, carbon reinforcement in the wrist and a left finger visor wiper which it did not have previously.
The Held Steve 2 Glove is available now at RevZilla.com.

Scorpion EXO-750
The upgrades over the EXO-700 are what really sets this helmet apart. They integrated their AirFit helmet pump system, which is a push-button mechanism that inflates the cheek pads and neckroll to provide the snuggest, safest and most comfortable and secure fit. At the push of a second button, it quickly deflates and is easy to remove. Next, they upgraded the shell to meet ECE 22.05 certification, an upgraded safety standard in Europe. The last major upgrade is the locking shield mechanism, a switch on the side of the helmet that pulls the shield flush to the shell ensuring no wind or water can penetrate.
Scorpion EXO-750 Eternity
We think this helmet stacks up extremely well against similarly-priced helmets. It packs in a ton of features that you generally don't see in other helmets in this range. To see what the EXO-750 competes with, check out our Sportbike Helmets segment at RevZilla.com

Scorpion Helmets EXO-750
Scorpion Helmets, innovative since they came through the gates about five years ago, took the excellent design of their mid-level EXO-700 sportbike helmet, made significant upgrades and rolled out the Scorpion EXO-750 Helmet. Scorpion continues to impress us with the level of technicality they are able to pack into helmets that come in at the sub-$300 price point and the EXO-750 stays true to this. It is a great choice for the sportbike rider looking for a lid that offers excellent performance, ventilation, stability and comfort.
Built with a Fiberglass/Kevlar Matrix shell, the EXO-750 is wind-tunnel tested for aerodynamics and offers an extremely stable and quiet ride. The chin bar is lined with EPS, an extremely rigid and resilient closed-cell foam that provides added protection. Of course, there is the trifecta of Scorpion stock features: the KwikWick removable washable moisture-wicking liner that breathes extremely well and provides excellent comfort; the EverClear fog-free faceshield, which is optically correct and treated with an anti-scratch hardened coating; and the SpeedShift quick-change shield system, one of the simplest shield change mechanisms we've seen which requires a simple quarter-turn of a knob on either side and the shield pops right off.

Scorpion Helmets
Many helmet brands simply private-label helmets purchased from generic mass manufacturers. And most other helmet brands sub-contract major portions of their manufacturing to smaller vendors. Scorpion does not-because we want to control every operation, every detail, to insure optimum quality, confidence-inspiring integrity and utmost efficiency.
The U.S. headquarters (The Nest) for Scorpion Sports is located in Lake Forest, CA. The 37,700 sq. ft. nerve center and warehouse includes the latest computerized technology for order entry, inventory management, customer service and order tracking. Dealer orders can be easily placed anytime on the website, or over the phone during business hours. And each order can be tracked online until it arrives at any dealership in America.
